Read of the Town: Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs

I just L-O-V-E the Ransom Riggs Peculiar Children books! The 3rd in a series, which I believe will end with the 4th book some time next year, has an amazing cover. Ransom has already said this is his most favorite cover and I’d have to agree! My guess as to why would be because the boy on the cover looks a little like Ransom maybe?

The story, if you haven’t read the first two or just want a sentence or two of a catch-up, follows the journey of Jacob, a young boy who enters a peculiar world, filled with peculiar children who need his help. I don’t want to give away any spoilers on how the second book ended, but what makes these books so much cooler than your average Young Adult or even just Fiction read is the attention to detail with the photographs included in the book. It’s not like a collection of them in the middle or the end of the book that you refer back and forth to. No, these photographs are as old as they look, that Ransom found and was able to use as a visual for not only the characters, but the story itself! It really is quite ingenious and something that, to my knowledge, has never been done before.

Library of Souls by Ransom RiggsOne more thing I wanted to mention! If you are like me, you’re excited about this book that will be released September 22nd of this year! But you’re even doubly excited for the motion picture release, being directed by the genius Tim Burton! I don’t know about you but I’m geeking out about it all!
